APEC 2011 Voice of the Future Nominations
APEC 2011 Voice of the Future Nominations
Ever wanted to have your say and share your views with World Leaders and CEO’s? The chance is here with the APEC Voices of the Future 2011 event taking place in Honolulu, Hawaii from 7- 13 November 2011! To find out how to register read on.
What is APEC?
APEC stands for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. It is an organisation of economies in the Asia-Pacific region formed to foster economic cooperation and trade among them with the view of enhancing international trade. At present there are 21 economies that are members of APEC.
What is APEC Voices of the Future?
The APEC Voices of the Future is an annual program designed to bring together young people, educators and World Leaders from the APEC 21 economies including Australia, Canada, China, Russia and the United States of America. By working and learning together APEC Voices delegates have the rare opportunity to start a dialogue with top policy makers in order to foster cooperation and prosperity in the classrooms and communities of the Asia Pacific region.
Why get involved?
The theme for the 2011 conference is Engage, Discover, Forge. By getting involved, you can connect with others from the APEC 21 economies and learn, discover and participate in all discussions of APEC related issues and policies. You can also interact and forge future relationships with APEC and business leaders.
Want the chance to make a difference and have your say?
Past APEC Voices of the Future participant Jordan Jujnovich from New Zealand reflects on his experience “To say that I learnt a huge amount while attending the 2009 Voices of the Future conference is a huge understatement. The conference itself was a fantastic opportunity and one that I have been proud to be a part of.”
How do I get involved?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Australia is working with APEC to find young people aged 18-25 with a keen interest in trade, economy and international relations to apply for the event as delegates. Applicants should be proficient in English, interested in trade economy and international relations as well as active youth leaders in their community or public service. We are also looking for mature adults over 25 with experience in coordinating and working with young people to apply as Educators. Educator applicants should be prepared to lead and facilitate group activities and have an interest and knowledge in trade and economy.
2006 delegate, Webb from The Furman University in South Carolina, USA who attended the APEC Voice of the Future conference says “It was a truly an amazing experience to hear all of those voices, too often blurred together in the static of international relations, to be talking with one voice about free trade, the Asia-Pacific and the future.”
