Duke of Ed Awardees, Participants, volunteers and Ambassadors from around Australia gathered to meet Duke of Ed founder, HRH, Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh, at a private reception at Government House in Canberra on Friday 21st October.
This event, hosted by Her Excellency The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, kicked off the 2012 50th Anniversary celebrations for The Duke of Ed.It was an opportunity for Participants, volunteers and supporters to meet one another and share their amazing stories. At the Reception, Professor Clive Palmer and Mr Michael Crouch were acknowledged as World Fellows by HRH, The Duke of Edinburgh and Mr Michael Palmer was also recognised as a Young World Fellow. World Fellows are significant supporters and contributors to The Duke of Ed both nationally and globally. We thank you all very much for your generous contribution.
A highlight of the Reception was when Curtis Werrett, a 17 year old Gold Award Participant spoke and shared his stories and experiences of participating in The Duke of Ed, including his inspiring recount of his challenging Adventurous Journey along the Inca Trail in Peru.
