Duke of Ed's Award NT Division Committee

The Committee is responsible for:

1. Setting the strategic direction for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, NT Division as the basis for all further strategic and operational planning.
2. Appoints, remunerates the Executive Officer, and defines Executive Officer accountabilities and the results expected.
3. Develops policies to manage the risks faced by the organisation.
4. Monitors and evaluates the organisation and the Executive Officer’s effectiveness.
5. Ensures compliance with all legal requirements.
6. Reports to key stakeholders on the successes or failures of the organisation.

 
Our committee members are currently:

JeffCharacteur

Jeff Wright, Master Commerce, Grad. Dip. Ed. Grad. Dip. Hum is the Chief Financial Officer for Territory Insurance Office (TIO) in the NT. Jeff is the Chairman.

DonCharacteur

Don McKinnon, BEd,  Graduate Diploma of Design and Technology Cert IV in Outdoor Recreation and Certificate 4 in Leading/Training small groups. Don has over 25 years’ experience in the Senior education sector and has been a Coordinator of The Award program and held positions on the committee.  He resides in Nhulunbuy - a very remote community in the NT and during the past 15 years is an active Community supporter for the Meals on Wheels Programme. Don is the Vice Chairman.

SteveCharacteur

Steve Sjoberg - Steve is the National Representative of the NT Division, Former CEO and Principal of the Australian Technical College Darwin. He has had 37 years in secondary education, 17 as a Principal in the NT. Steve is also a Committee Member

LeeCharacteur

Lee Upton, Bachelor of Commerce, Grad. Dip. in Legal Studies & Dip in Management, MBA. Lee is the Director, Office of Human Resource Services at CDU. Lee is the Treasurer.

 

AlanCharacteur

Alan Green FCA, FCPA, Registered Tax Agent and is the Chief Operating Officer for IS Australia.  He is a Former Director of Hayes Knight SA and Former State President, Director and State Councillor for CPA Australia.  Alan is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Fellow of CPA Australia.

AliceCharacteur

Alice McDonald has been an educator in Schools and Tertiary Institutes (throughout Australia and overseas) in content areas of Physical Education, Health, Science and Outdoor Education. She currently works for CDU in the area of continuous improving and quality processes. Alice has also represented the NT nationally on sporting committees and is currently the Secretary for the RLSSA (NT) Branch.

 

KatherineCharacteur

Katherine Buckeridge BEd and Med.  Kate is Head of Kormilda Middle School in the Northern Territory. She was once the Executive Officer of The DofE in the Top End.

GregCharacteur

Greg Broadfoot Greg has an art and design background and spent a couple of years managing art house cinemas in Adelaide before his introduction to human services work in the late '90s.  He worked as a youth worker in emergency and outreach accommodation and in community development in South Australia before moving to Darwin in 2003.  Greg worked for 5 years in child protection in the NT and managed the NT Office of Youth Affairs in 2009 and 2010.  He now works for the Australian Government in corporate, business and human resource management.

Lia

Lia Finocchiaro -   Lia is a born and bred Territorian and is a lawyer in the commercial litigation team at Ward Keller. Lia has extensive experience in major litigation and government clients, in which her roles include complex case strategy. In addition to this, Lia is also regarded as a key client contact point, an efficient and effective case manager and a substantial contributor to business development.
Lia is actively involved in the Northern Territory business, social, not for profit and multicultural communities.
