"Not-for-profit (NFP) governance is a complex business. Governance is first and foremost about people and their ability to work together to achieve organisational objectives. Unlike for-profits, NFPs are driven by social objectives, not shareholder returns, so clarity and measurement of these objectives is a key governance challenge. Their objectives have an impact on the role andn composition of NFP boards and their relationships with stakeholders. NFPs have fewer resources and often more complexity to navigate, but the risk and exposure is the same as it is for-profit directors..."
