The Adventurous Journey is an amazing experience, which is why you need to keep a journal or log of your escapades!
You'll want to remember your time away and remind you of what you have achieved, which is why records are so important!
The Duke of Ed make it a requirement of the Award that Participant keep and submit their record of their Duke of Ed for this reason.
Types of Records
The Duke of Ed is about trying new things, and the submission of a journal or log is exactly the same! There are so many different forms it can take, so we've given you some ideas below:

Content Included
Suggested information to include is:
Showing route, meal stops, check or rendezvous points and camp sites
Together with comments on equipment taken which was inappropriate or not needed; and equipment not take but which would have been helpful
Including menus and comments on adequacy of rations
With comments, as was the same for equipment

Description of Expedition/Exploration
Feelings about the trip, such as what was learnt, emotions felt and the highs and the lows
Items noted on the trip but not included on the map e.g. new tracks
Adequacy of campsites, water supply etc
Observations such as flora, fauna etc
Information such as historical, botanical, geographical and scenic
Any other matter relating to the trip and its organisation
Sketches, detailed maps, photos, video, clippings
