What is the ORB?
The ORB is the new online system for Coordinators, Participants and Assessors to help run, do, assess and manage The Duke of Ed.
The Duke of Ed Online Record Book (ORB) integrates online, email, mobile and in the future, social networking communities, the ORB gives the entire Duke of Ed community greater connection with each other whilst making it much easier to both do and run The Duke of Ed.
We successfully piloted the ORB to a small group of Licensed Operators, Coordinators, Participants and Assessors in 2009 around Australia, and are now ready for a full national roll out from the start of 2010.
Some of the benefits of the ORB include:
- Is accessible anywhere, any time
- It’s easy to use and offers cross-user interaction for all (Participants, Coordinators, Assessors, State and Territory Offices)
- Participant progress is tracked with a percentage so they can feel a sense of achievement throughout the entire process
- Stores all records in one secure, convenient place – and it can’t be lost!
- Allows direct messaging and email with Participants, Assessors and your State Award Office
- Provides reporting and search functionality to help manage and reduce admin time
- Will include training and support from The Duke of Ed for the ORB
Who is it available to?
The Duke of Ed recognises that no matter how remote a young person in Australia may be physically, they should still have access to many of the same services of their urban peers. The ORB is therefore available for anyone with internet access.
The services the ORB offers is the opportunity to: develop their interpersonal skills; interact with people their own age; and connect with adult mentors who can help develop their skills and improve their life chances.
