In 1994, after the tragic and violent murder of his 18 year old son Michael, Ken Marslew formed the Enough is Enough Anti Violence Movement Inc.
The movement has worked with young people disengaged from society, and as a way to respond to the growing need of young needing to learn life skills and teach them to avoid using violence, they have become a Licensed Operator of The Duke of Ed.
The Enough is Enough Movement has established itself upon the highest ideals of human behaviour, and in a positive and pro-active manner goes about the important business of reforming society’s attitudes to violence through greater understanding and education.
Enough is Enough deals with a wide spectrum of programs and services, many of which involve young people. While working with these teenagers and young adults it came to their attention that many of the “at risk” kids have very limited alternatives to reengage not only in society but education as well.
It was this need in the community and young people who may not be at school or have been involved with the Juvenile Justice system that resulted in the movement wanting to offer The Duke of Ed to these teenagers. The Enough is Enough Movement perceived a symmetry between The Duke of Ed principles and their own.
Enough is Enough works with a number of groups to not only reintegrate young people back into the community but also educate others, such as workshops for school students.
Some of the programs and workshops which have been designed to help young people deal with key youth issues such as bullying, positive lifestyles, drug issues and protective behaviours.
“We believe in empowering young people to achieve their goals, to provide positive support and encouragement. We also encourage personal responsibility and a non violent approach to life.”
