It is a requirement of The Duke of Ed for all Participants under the age of 18 to gain parental/guardian permission prior to beginning any Award activity.
This is usually part of the registration form, and requires a parent's signature. This permission must be sighted by the Coordinator prior to any Award activity taking place.
If a Participant is completing their Duke of Ed using the Online Record Book, a parental email will be required to advise permission and can be found during the registration process.
In addition to their permission, the support of parents and carers can make a big difference to a Participant's experience of their Duke of Ed.
Encouragement, motivation and acknowledgement of successes can often make the different to a young person completing their Duke of Ed Award - so encourage them to get involved!
