Transition to Online Record Book Next Generation
The Online Record Book Next Generation (ORB Next Gen) is the next step in the digital journey of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award globally. Over the past four years, the International Award Foundation (the IAF – our ‘parent organisation’ in London) has been gathering suggestions on improvements which have informed this upgrade to the Online Record Book.
ORB Next Gen has been rolled out to all other countries in the Award family and it will soon be Australia’s turn to transition. To do this, the current Online Record Book will be taken offline for a period of time (with continued read-only access for Award staff and Award Leaders but no access for Participants) to transfer the data to the ORB Next Gen. Once this is completed, ORB Next Gen will be made available for all users and the current Online Record Book will no longer be available.
Emails to users advising transition completed, how to change password and log on to ORB Next Gen to be distributed over the two final days of the transition.
Dates for the transition are as follows:
Phase 1: Award Units linked to the following Award Operating Authorities:
Australian Air Force Cadets, ACT, South Australia, National OAC, Northern Territory, Tasmania and Western Australia.
Current ORB Offline: Wednesday, 29th November 2017
ORB Next Gen available: Thursday, 7th December 2017
Phase 2: Award Units linked to the following Award Operating Authorities:
New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria.
Current ORB Offline: Monday, 11th December 2017
ORB Next Gen available: Wednesday, 3rd January 2018
Key features of ORB Next Gen are:
- Faster access (e.g. when searching for records and running reports)
- Simpler and more intuitive interface
- Free phone/tablet apps available for Participants, Award Leaders and Assessors on iOS and Android
- Apps allow for anytime, anywhere access to view and update the Award progress for all ORB users
